An unexpected opportunity …

Henning texted me Friday evening and suggested a final motorcycle trip before the winter break.

The weather forecast for the following week was unusually good for mid November, so after a check with the family calendars, we started planning a four day trip from Thursday to Sunday the following week.

We are going to the estern part of Germany where it meets with Poland and the Czech Republic, and the general idea was to cross old iron curtain country borders a lot of times.

Routes and reservations for ferry crossing and hotel was done during the weekend, and we was ready for take off. Sometimes simple and spontaneous plans are the best 🙂

It is Thursday morning and mid November – so it is slightly chilly, but great weather considering the time of year.

Two stroke car from the DDR period.

Before the fall of the Iron Curtain, you saw these cars everywhere in the DDR, but now they are quite rare.

Not according to the plan …

Hennings KTM developed a problem with the keyless start, and it became increasingly difficult to start the bike.

It was clear that we could not continue without getting the bike fixed, so we managed to get both bikes to the KTM dealer in Berlin.

They started the fault finding immediately, and the problem was located fast.

Unfortunately, the required spare part was not in stock, so Henning had to rent another bike for the weekend.

Problem solved for now, but it tool a few hours so we had to call the hotel and inform that we would arrive later than expected.

We passed the small gokart/motard track and there was a single guy out there on a motard.

We stopped and talked with him and as there was not much activity on the track, I asked if I could do a few rounds on the Yamaha Tenere.

He pointed me in the direction of the managers office, and he was kind enough to let me ride the track for free.

I’m quite proud that I got the lines more or less right on the third round abd was able to ride the tyres to the edge.

The comment from the motard rider was: wrong bike and wrong tyres, but it looked like fun 🙂

(The video is showing the motard rider – not the Tenere 😂)
