This trip is a bit unusual because the 4 participants are partly from the USA 🇺🇸, partly from Denmark 🇩🇰
The overall plan is a 10 day trip around Poland while including a fair number of WW2 locations (but also other interesting sights without any WW2 relation).
We started planning this trip 8 month ago, and it is finally the time to launch 🚀
This way we can get through Berlin outside the morning and afternoon rush hour(s) !
Riding the German Autobahn is never very exciting, but the orange/yellow guys/girls at the gas station was still a special sight ….
Zgorzelec is the Polish half of the city that is called Görlitz on the German side, and the two parts of the city is divided by the Neiße river.
We found a fancy hotel (renovated castle) with an excellent restaurant.
We will probably not see the same standard in all the hotels 😉
We was lucky that there was a big public party in the city this weekend with music, food stalls, entertainment etc.
Quite spectacular with a party spanning two countries 🥳👍
The small brass plates in the pavement is found in many German towns, and tell the story of the Jewish people who lived here.
In use from 1953 to 1998 – now a museum.
It was not really open for visitors in the morning, but two friendly retired coal miners opened it just for us so we could have a look at the amazing construction !!!
